Communication

Communication is a reflection of who we are as professionals and an organization. All communication should be clear, respectful, and professional. Verbal and written communication is critical for effective leadership. Building confidence in others is done by effectively communicating in a sincere, professional, and direct manner.

 

Managing Information

All information will be exchanged using school-approved methods. School email will be used for all communication with students and families, as well as with staff. All student information will be kept confidential and updated in the student information system. Human Resource updates, policies and procedures will be kept in the organization’s briefcase on the mail server.

 

Enhancing Collaboration

  • A professional outgoing message will be placed on any phone or device that is used to conduct business.

  • All calls will be returned promptly, within 24 hours. If an immediate answer is not available, acknowledgement will be made and follow up later. 

  • Professional signature block, in the current school format, will be used in email.

  • All correspondence will remain in email, contact manager, or in the learning management system.

  • Use of the learning management system will include managing lessons, engaging students and staff, sharing content, and connecting with other educators.

  • Privacy and etiquette will always be used in collaborative efforts.

 

Effective Management of the Organization

  • Printed communications, such as flyers, newsletters, emails, or printed information will follow organizational guidelines. In addition, the use of the current school logo or letterhead will be used.

  • Social media will be used with integrity, good judgment, and proper conduct.

  • Maintain student, staff, and organizational confidentiality in regards to private or confidential information, including FERPA laws.

  • Utilize technical resources to efficiently access and exchange information.

  • All company tools, such as computers, printers, cell phones, computer accessories will be used with respect and care.

  • Adhere to the company Acceptable Use Policy, Computer Policy, and Tech Support Policy.

Wellness Plan

            Student Health

            Medical cards and 504 plans will all be kept in a binder, locked at the front desk. These cards will be on hand in the event of a medical emergency. All medications and medicine forms will remain locked and administered by the site principal or school nurse.

            Safety

            The following student safety guidelines will be followed by staff and students:

Communication

  • Carry a cell phone

  • Don’t Talk to Strangers

  • See Something, Say Something (Do NOT wait to report an incident)

  • Make contact with a staff member before leaving and when arriving at school

Commuting

Please use recommended route-

  • Walk in groups

  • Stay in high traffic areas

  • Stay on Sidewalks/ Crosswalks and obey traffic signals

  • Avoid side streets

  • Move quickly to your destination

  • Do NOT make stops along the way

Dress code

Student dress code will be defined as safe and modest.

 

            Well-being

            In order to maintain the best teaching and learning environment, the physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional well-being of all students will be taken into account. The school culture and climate will one of diversity, inclusion, and accommodations. Student engagement will include a leadership program, student mentors, and involvement with all on site staff. School counselors will be available to meet with students to ensure that students are making positive and healthy choices that support learning and achievement.

 

Extended Support for Students

 

            Intervention Programs

            Dedicated teamwork, collaborative team members, and serving our students will be used to identify struggling students. Aligning the expression of ideas and opinions, while using data driven instruction, the team will make decisions that impact and support the students. Intervention programs for reading and math will take place in foundational courses, as well as with the support of the Specialized Academic Instructor.

 

            Before/after-school Programs
            Extended hours of operation will be used to help families needing before and afterschool program options. Clubs, sports, and events will take place at the end of the day to ensure that students can participate.

 

            Summer School

            Summer school or an extended school year will be offered to students needing credit recovery options. Concurrent enrollment at a community college is another option for summer school. If a student completes a course at a community college, the transcript will be forwarded to add to their high school transcript.

 

            Volunteer Programs

            Students are required to complete 37.5 hours of community service for each year of enrollment. The leadership class works with students to find volunteer opportunities. In exchange, students will be granted 2.5 credits for their annual community service hours.
