Instructional leadership is identified in the the following California Administrator Performance Expectations (CAPE's):

Visionary Leadership (CAPE 1, 2, 3, 4)
Visionary leadership includes identifying the major theories and concepts in educational leadership. Perez (2018) states, “Leading a school, as an administrator, has multiple components for reaching the school’s vision and goals. Student achievement is the ultimate goal, yet involving the community, including families, businesses, and the local populations are equally important. At the Classical Academies, partnering with the community is an integral part of the school success and overall achievement. “
Skills and strategies for facilitating the alignment of the school’s vision were covered in Administration 510. The assignment, in week six, of a vision implementation website explained how the school program, plans, and activities are shaped and integrated with the overall vision. This and other assignments helped me understand the challenges of educational leadership, as well as develop a variety of strategies to create an effective learning environment for all students. Additionally, in Administration 522, School Policy and Law for Principals, had a valuable assignment of communicating a vision. These assignments were applicable to my current position and useful on my site.
Developing a shared commitment to the vision is important among all stakeholders in and around the organization, In Administration 523, the Parent and Community Engagement presentation included research and evaluating the current method of community involvement. This presentation was insightful as to the progress that has been made and how we can share that with the community. As a school that partners with parents as part of our vision and mission, the opportunity to create powerful presentations gives us additional tools to use in our commitment to share our programs.
A great leader takes responsibility for all components of running a school and the vision of where it can go in the future. Budgeting is an important task and requires insight, input from others, and accountability. Throughout this process, I have created an ideal business model for running a high school that has a balanced budget and reserves. In Administration 521, a School Budget Development Paper was written that included this ideal budget model.
